What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment developed by Dr. John E. Upledger that supports the nervous system by working with the body's craniosacral system. Using a light touch of approximately five grams of pressure, CST helps identify and release restrictions, encouraging the body's natural ability to restore balance and heal.

What can Craniosacral Therapy help with?

CST may support individuals experiencing chronic pain, headaches and migraines, TMJ dysfunction, neck and back pain, stress, nervous system dysregulation, post-surgical recovery, and other acute or chronic conditions. Every body is unique, and each session is tailored to your individual needs.

What should I expect during my first session?

We'll begin with a brief conversation about your health history, current concerns, and goals. From there, you'll remain fully clothed as you relax on the treatment table while I assess what your body is presenting that day and provide a personalized Craniosacral Therapy session.

What does Craniosacral Therapy feel like?

CST uses an extremely gentle touch. Many clients experience deep relaxation, warmth, subtle movement, or a sense of calm, while others simply rest throughout the session. It is possible for clients to experience an emotional release on the table, and I ensure that each client feels safe to express what the body no longer wants to hold. Ultimately, every experience is different, and there is no "right" way to respond.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your goals and the nature of your condition. Some clients experience meaningful improvements within a few sessions, while others with more chronic or complex concerns benefit from ongoing care. Together, we'll determine a plan that best supports your healing journey.

I didn't feel much during my session. Is that normal?

Yes. Every client responds differently. Some people notice changes during the session, while others experience improvements over the following hours or days. Sometimes the body is making changes beneath the surface before they become noticeable.

Why do I feel discomfort in a different area after my session?

As the body begins releasing long-standing patterns of tension, it may reorganize how it holds stress and compensation. I often compare this process to cleaning out a junk drawer—before everything finds its proper place, things may temporarily feel more disorganized. While everyone's experience is different, this can be a normal part of the body's process of restoring balance.

Do I need a diagnosis before scheduling?

Not at all. Whether you have a diagnosis, are still searching for answers, or simply know that something doesn't feel right, you're welcome here. Every session begins with curiosity and focuses on meeting your body where it is.
